Do we love this show or what?!
Although I tend to disagree with their portrayal of gay men as sex-starved, party-crazed drug hounds, I do like the storylines and characters they are developing on the show.
Not quite the life me and my friends share, but some of the dialog really rings true.
In case you havent heard about or seen the show, there is more info here about it:

Its not going to be on during May
Showtime is showing that new show Further Tales of the City.
It is still gay-themed isnt it?

I really enjoy Queer As Folk! Even though some people feel that it does not show what the majority of the gay community is really like, I feel that it is refreshing to see a show that is not always Politically Correct. I think that it makes the show fun.

Thankfully, it will be back on soon.
We have missed it, and Tales of the City was no substitute. But then its off again at the end of June.
Re-run party time, no doubt.
Right now they are asking for the Viewers Choice. They will run whichever one gets the most votes. You can vote here:

I love Queer as Folk and so do my friends. Tales of the City was ok and Olivia does a great job as a transgender...but no substitute for Queer as Folk. Rerunparty humm maybe. I also am a Lesbian and have a gay male roommate..it helped me understand him a little better.

Is what they are portraying on this show what we really want the general public ie the conservative folks that decide whether we should have rights or not to see?? I am embarrassed that Queer as Folk portrays the gay lifestyle as one that is only about casual sex and drug use. Though it does happen in our circles, why would we want to put that foot forward...everyone knows they judge us by what they SEE!!! And how come the only monogomous couple on there is a lesbian couple....and only ONE of those represented???? This show does nothing for our cause for equal rights and treatment..does nothing to end discrimination.
Proud to be gay, proud of who I am....not proud of the show. Thats not what we are really about.

Queer as Folk - Original British TV Drama:
I dont know how many of you have managed to see the original British series ?
I can tell you this, it was filmed in many of my old haunts in Manchester, England, and, much if not most of it was exactly as I remember !
If, your story-line is any different, then contact the producers and ask them why it is not realistic !
For England, the script and characters were certainly drawn from life.

Im so glad the new season is right around the corner.
Everyone that was flipped cuz the show didnt represent in a pos way, so why does it have to? It is a fictional show. Casual sex, drugs, etc., exist in alot of straight shows too, does that mean that all straight people are like that?
